CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Cyclists will be taking over DuSable Lake Shore Drive this weekend.

DuSable Lake Shore Drive will be cleared of vehicle traffic on Sunday to allow for the yearly Bike the Drive event. Starting at 6:30am, cyclists can enter DLSD at Jackson with final checkpoints at 97th to the South and Bryn Mawr to the North.

Cyclists are then encouraged to turnaround and head back to Jackson where there will be a post ride festival. Complete information including street closure times and safety guidelines can be found on the 53bikethedrive.org website.

Helmets are required. Registration for the Bike the Drive event supports the Active Transportation Alliance, a nonprofit advocacy group that works on behalf of the people who walk, bike and use public transportation in Chicagoland.
