CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The City of Chicago is teaming up with the Thierer Family foundation in a new pilot to address food insecurity among Chicago residents with disabilities.

The Vivery Idea Lab Pilot includes an in-home delivery system for people with disabilities.

Nasrin Thierer is the President of the Thierer Family Foundation.

"We're also working with handful of pantries that will provide other, you know, shelf stable items, so we bring all of that together at the pantry site, and then that gets delivered from there to the individuals"

She said this would provide solutions for people who might face obstacles accessing food due to a disability.

"Sometimes we kind of overlook the fact that maybe people with disability have a more difficult time finding a job, or maybe they have more difficult time actually getting to the grocery store or to the pantry."

The first round of deliveries will be made on Monday. People can visit the Vivery website for information on how to apply.
