(WBBM NEWSRADIO) – A Downers Grove man accused of making illegal recordings of two women and a minor was found to have more than 200 secretly taped videos on his phone, authorities say.
Downers Grove police were notified Sept. 23 that a man had used his phone to record a woman who was changing in a Goodwill store fitting room, the DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office said. Investigators determined the man – 36-year-old Matthew Morgan – had made a similar recording Sept. 9 at the store, and on Sept. 8 recorded video underneath the skirt of a 13-year-old girl at a Starbucks “while he pretended to tie his shoelaces,” officials allege.
With a search warrant, authorities found about 260 videos in which Morgan secretly recorded mostly young females at locations including Goodwill, Starbucks and Target stores, prosecutors said.
Morgan is charged with one count of unauthorized video recording of a victim under 18 and two counts of unauthorized video recording. A judge on Friday released him under multiple conditions, pending trial, including home confinement and having monitoring software installed on his electronic devices, DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin said.
Morgan’s next court appearance is Oct. 30, officials said.
