CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Kids in Naperville can get their Christmas wishes directly to Santa without having to worry about North Pole postage.
The Downtown Naperville Alliance set up a special mailbox at the corner of Main Street and Van Buren.
“It's absolutely free,” Danielle Tufano, executive director of the Downtown Naperville Alliance, told WBBM Newsradio. “The only thing that families need to provide is the wish list or a letter and the return address and Santa and his elves will take it from there.”
Santa will then send back a personalized note in the mail.
“A big thank you to Santa’s elves over at the Alive Center of Naperville and Aurora, they're helping us make sure that Santa gets the letters and can return them,” he said.
Letters can be dropped off through Dec. 19.
Another family-friendly holiday activity in downtown Naperville is an elf scavenger hunt.
“If you go to our website DowntownNaperville.com, you can download a little map that shows where elves are hidden in different merchants throughout downtown Naperville,” said Tufano. “If you check off all of them on your list, you can win a Downtown Naperville gift card.”
Tufano said the Downtown Naperville Alliance also provided more than 60 large plaid bows for locally owned and operated businesses to display on their storefront.
The goal is to encourage shoppers to support small businesses during the holidays.
