Driver shot and killed on North Side: CPD

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - A driver was shot and killed on the North Side overnight.

According to Chicago Police, the incident occurred shortly before 3:40 a.m. in the Irving Park neighborhood, on Whipple near Byron.

A 21-year-old man driving was east near Montrose when a white Jeep began to follow him. Police said a suspect inside the Jeep then began shooting at the victim. He was struck in the back of the head.

The 21-year-old then crashed into several cars and a tree before coming to a stop.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said the White Jeep involved in the shooting fled south on Whipple.

No one is in custody.

Area Five detectives are investigating.
