Employee shot and killed at south suburban liquor store: Police

GLENWOOD (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - A shooting at a south suburban liquor store last night left an employee dead.

Some kind of altercation between an employee of Emporium Liquors in Glenwood and a suspect ended with the employee getting shot.

Police said it happened at about 7:15 p.m. inside the store on Glenwood Lansing Road.

Police said the suspect fired at least one shot, killing the employee.

The Cook County Medical Examiner has identified the victim as 52-year-old Naveen Singh of Chicago Heights.

It’s not clear if this was part of a robbery. Members of the South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force were going over surveillance video from other businesses in the strip mall as part of their investigation.
