A beloved grocery store in the western suburbs celebrated a major milestone on Friday.

Prisco's Family Market has been serving the city of Aurora through the great depression, wars, over a dozen presidents and more.

The family-owned grocery marked 100 years in the rain, with neighbors turning out in rain coats to support the small store.

"I see all these familiar faces and I'm struck by the thought that none of this would be possible without you," said former President Rob Prisco to the crowd. "It brings a lump to my throat."

For Maria Salazar, there's a few reasons the grocery store's been so successful.

"I like the prices, they're really good and they're fresh all the time, the bread, the lunch meat," explained customer Maria Salazar.

And for others, like long-time Prisco supporter Jerry Davis, it's something more.

"They take care of you, they make adjustments for you. Service and convenience are the biggest two things," he explained.

Prisco's now joins the rare club of small, family owned businesses celebrating 100 years and four generations.

Aurora Mayor John Laesch closed the centennial celebration by proclaiming Friday "Prisco Family Market Day" in the city.
