Another Democratic politician is entering the race to replace retiring US Rep. Jan Schakowksy.
Evanston Mayor Daniel Biss announced his candidacy Thursday morning on social media, warning against obeying in advance.
He was just re-elected as mayor last month.
In that position, Biss led Evanston to be the first city in the country to offer reparations to Black residents and cast the tie-breaking vote to approve Northwestern University’s massive Ryan Field reconstruction.
The 47-year-old has served in the Illinois House and Senate and lost to JB Pritzker in a bid for governor in 2018.
Biss joins State Senator Laura Fine and progressive influencer Kat Abughazaleh in the Democratic primary next March.
