(WBBM NEWSRADIO) - An Evanston woman and her daughter are missing in Israel and feared kidnapped by Hamas militants.
Fifty-nine-year-old Judith Raanan and her 18-year-old daughter Natalie have been in Israel for about a month to celebrate the High Holidays and visit family.
There has been no contact since Saturday.
They were last in a Kibbutz near the Gaza border that had been attacked by militants going from home to home, killing people and taking hostages.
Judith Raanan was a member of Chabad of Evanston. A message on the synagogue's social media shows pictures of the women and asks for prayers.
"Our broken hearts are with our brothers and sisters during this most painful and devastating time in Israel," a message read.
Members of the Jewish community attended a prayer vigil Monday night in Skokie.
