The 80-year-old Daley -- the city’s longest-serving mayor and son of legendary mayor Richard J. Daley -- was admitted to the hospital last Wednesday. At the time, a spokesperson said Daley was “feeling out of sorts.”

He was discharged from Northwestern Monday Monday evening but did not return home. Instead, the former mayor will be at Shirley Ryan AbilityLab for what is described as a short stay.

Daley physician Dr. Eric Terman said his patient experienced a “neurological event” but is expected to make a full recovery.

Daley has thanked the Chicago Fire Department and Northwestern’s doctors, nurses and other staff for the care he has received.
