(WBBM NEWSRADIO) – An armed carjacker is stealing vehicles after setting up meetings with people over Facebook Marketplace, Chicago police say.
The series of four robberies occurred between May 31 and June 29.
Police say the victims were selling vehicles via the social media marketplace and made an appointment with someone to take a test drive.
During the tryout, the purported buyer asks to see the vehicle's title. The offender then produces and handgun and orders the owner from the vehicle before fleeing, police said.
Anyone with information about the crimes is asked to call detectives at (312) 747-8380.
