Family looking for justice after 80-year-old shot, killed in his car
(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — The identity of an 80-year-old man who was shot and killed on the South Side Wednesday morning has now been shared.
Family members identify the man as James Stroud. He died after Chicago police say he was shot while sitting in his car near 90th and Loomis streets in the Brainerd neighborhood just after 10 a.m.
Police say another vehicle pulled up behind him and someone in the vehicle started shooting, hitting Stroud in the head and back. Police are investigating.
Meanwhile, Stroud's son James Jr. tells CBS News Chicago that he's grappling with the loss of his dad and asking the public for help in finding answers.
"Whoever did it, I hope that justice is served, because my dad was a good guy that was cowardly whoever did that very cowardly," James Jr. said.
Family members say Stroud had just retired and was beginning to enjoy his time off from work.
No arrests have been made.
