Maria Michaud, 40, plead guilty in court on Wednesday to Class 2 felonies of Identity Theft and Money Laundering.
Attorney General Kwame Raoul says Michaud stole nearly $250,000 in unclaimed property from four victims by filing fraudulent claims with the Illinois State Treasurer's Unclaimed Property Division.
Michaud also opened numerous bank accounts in the names of her victims.
Michaud on Wednesday was sentenced to three years in the Illinois Department of Corrections.
Raoul says his office has filed a forfeiture proceeding to recover the stolen funds.
