(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Several months after a man was shot and killed by police inside of his Carol Stream apartment, his family, as well as community members, are demanding more answers.
“Everyone has seen the video, clearly there is something that they are hiding,” said Kennetha Barnes, the sister of Isaac Goodlow III.
Gathered outside the office of DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin, the family of Goodlow criticized leaders for a lack of information about the Feb. 3 shooting at the Villagebrook Apartments. Bodycam footage of the shooting showed that officers opened fire at the 30-year-old while responding to a domestic violence incident.
Carol Stream Police have called the situation “tense and uncertain,” but Barnes says her brother was unarmed and alone in bed.
“They did all the wrong things that night, and anybody who’s seen the video knows they did. There were no commands to Isaac. They never even said his name once they entered his apartment. Maybe if they said his name, maybe it could’ve been different,” Barnes said.
“They didn’t even have to have their hands on the trigger. Why?”
Attorney Andrew Stroth says later this month, the names of the officers involved will be released, thanks to an order from a federal judge in Chicago.
“We should know those officers. We should know their backgrounds. We should know how long they’ve been on the force. Those officers should be held responsible and accountable,” Stroth said.
