ROBBINS, Ill. (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Relatives of a Robbins man killed in a crash with a stolen car are furious the underage teen suspects involved have not been charged.
They had gathered for the funeral of Donald Carter Sr. and also held a candlelight vigil. Family members are angry the 70-year-old retired mechanic was killed in a crash the afternoon of February 12 with a stolen Kia.
They’ve filed a lawsuit against the village of Robbins claiming Carter died because of a police pursuit of the car with three 13-year-old boys inside and demanding charges against them.
Robbins police deny there was a chase and said they held the three suspects for 24 hours, but had to release them because they have not yet been charged.
