CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - If you’re looking for cheap gas, you’ll want to fill up your tank in the West Loop.

The Fulton-Desplaines Garage is selling regular-grade gasoline for $2.99 a gallon, compared to the city average of $4.43, according to AAA.

It’s not a typo, owner Matt Tefka said he’s getting out of the gas business.

“Our main focus here is fixing cars and gasoline is more of a side part of it,” Tefka told CBS-2. “The gasoline industry is a never ending battle, never ending expenses, EPA regulations, city regulations, state regulations, we’re getting out at this point because it’s the right time.”

Tefka added that ending gas sales will allow him to make more room for parking and potentially some charging stations in the future.

He said, until the tanks are empty, Fulton-Desplaines Garage will continue to offer the deep discount.

"We have about 3,000 gallons left, which sounds like a lot but it's really not," Tefka said. "At this price point, I don't expect it to last too long."

As its name suggests, Fulton-Desplaines Garage is located at the corner of Fulton and Desplaines in the West Loop.
