(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Art lovers in one south suburb are holding a unique auction to help pay for a public art display.
Nancy Burrows is co-chair of the Flossmoor Public Art Commission, which has erected several sculptures around the village.
She said the commission maintains the current sculptures and hopes to acquire new ones.
"To do this, we need funding. The funding is through donations. It is not village-funded," Burrows said.
Burrows said that's why the commission is auctioning off several sculptures created and donated by local artists.

"This year we felt it would be fun and fitting in a theme to have a garden art fundraiser. So, we put out a request for donations of people to show their creativity and come up with pieces of art, and we are doing an online auction."
The auction allows people to buy art to display in their yards, while supporting the public sculptures around Flossmoor.
The auction can be found on the Flossmoor Public Art Commission website here.
