(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — One person was injured in a three-alarm fire Thursday night at a home in northwest suburban Prairie Grove.

Officials with the Nunda Rural Fire Protection District said firefighters from over 20 departments responded to the scene and fought the blaze in windchill temperatures as low as 15 degrees below zero.

The two-story home was a complete loss, and the lone occupant sustained various injuries, including minor burns, Nunda officials wrote on social media. No other injuries were reported.

Officials didn’t say when exactly the fire broke out, but just before 11 p.m., the Nunda Fire Protection District asked residents to avoid the area of Barreville Road and Tamarack Trail “for the next few hours” as they responded to the reported house fire.

Officials said firefighters were on the scene seven minutes after receiving word of the fire.
