(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Late next week, a judge in Wisconsin is set to preside over a hearing on Kyle Rittenhouse’s motion to get his gun back.

It’s the AR-15-style rifle the Antioch resident used Aug. 25, 2020 to kill two people and wound a third during civil unrest in Kenosha; Rittenhouse said he was defending himself.

Rittenhouse, now 19, was acquitted of several charges in a trial late last year. Now, his lawyer has filed documents asking for the return of the weapon. Rittenhouse also seeks ammunition, his iPhone, a cloth face mask and a $1 bill, along with clothes he was wearing the night of the shootings.

A spokesperson for Rittenhouse told the Kenosha News that when Rittenhouse gets the gun back it will be destroyed, saying, “There’s nothing to celebrate about that weapon.”

The judge hearing the motion is the same judge who presided over Rittenhouse’s trial.
