Love was in the air, literally, at Irish festival in Will County

(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Emily Faye Brown and Adam Seidler go way back.

“We started out when we were in high school,” Seidler said. “She was a freshman, I was a sophomore.”

The Coal City natives dated intermittently, but things got serious when Seidler returned from serving in the Marine Corps.

“I got her this time; I wasn’t going to let her go again,” he said.

For the couple, Manhattan’s Irish Fest is an annual tradition.

“We’re not even Irish,” Brown said. “It’s just a fun place to go. So many memories of so many years and traditions of what we’ve done growing up in the past.”

But this year’s event took a turn, specifically when Emily—who goes by her middle name, Faye—looked up to the sky after Saturday’s parade and saw a plane with a banner.

“I thought, ‘Oh my God, that’s so cute for someone.’” Brown said. “And then I look, and I’m like, ‘Oh my God, that says my name.’”

It read: “Faye, will you marry me? I love you.”

“I’m pretty happy,” Seidler said. “She was surprised, she had no idea. We’ll be able to tell our kids, they’ll get it when they get older, they’ll be telling their kids.”
