(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A recent Loyola University graduate got a chance to speak to Pope Francis on Thursday when she joined a group of college students from the Americas on a Zoom call with the pontiff.

The theme of the almost two-hour discussion was “Building Bridges.”

Aleja Sastoque of Colombia, 32, was one of 16 young men and women from North, Central and South America who got a chance to talk with the pope.

Sastoque said she was happy to have talked to Pope Francis about the concept of North, Central and South America being one,  “the continent of hope.”

“He knows what I mean by that: Be this connection in the hemisphere of hope,” she said.

Pope Francis responded directly to her concern for immigrants like herself.
