Man charged after shootout with cops in South Chicago

Cordero Ramey, 26, was charged with attempted murder, unlawful use of a weapon and possession of a firearm as a felon, police said.

A Chicago man who was shot by police during an exchange of gunfire was charged after the Monday shootout on the South Side.

Cordero Ramey, 26, was charged with attempted murder, unlawful use of a weapon and possession of a firearm as a felon, police said.

Ramey allegedly fired at officers and was shot and seriously wounded as they conducted an investigatory stop in the 3100 block of East 83rd Street around 10:30 p.m. Monday.

Ramey was expected to appear in court Thursday.
