CHICAGO (WBBM Newsradio) – A 51-year-old man was critically wounded in a shooting during a fight inside a home in Chicago’s Chatham neighborhood on Sunday, according to Chicago police.

The shooting happened around 8:28 p.m. near East 79th Street and South Calumet Avenue.

Investigators said the man was fighting with another man he knew when he punched him in the face. The other man then pulled out a gun and fired, striking the 51-year-old in the chest.

The shooting victim was taken to University of Chicago Hospital in critical condition.

Responding officers took the suspected shooter into custody and recovered a gun. He was also taken to University of Chicago Hospital with head injuries and was listed in good condition.

Police indicated the incident appeared to be domestic-related. No charges were announced in the information provided.

Area Two detectives are investigating.
