(WBBM NEWSRADIO) – A 54-year-old man from unincorporated Antioch faces felony charges after he allegedly slashed the face of a family member from eye to lip, Lake County authorities say.
Sheriff’s deputies responded early Wednesday to a call of a domestic battery in progress involving a knife at a residence in the 21200 block of Route 173. There, officers found a 45-year-old man with “significant facial injuries” after he’d been slashed across the face with a knife, officials said.
The victim was transported to an area hospital.
Police say a family member, Aaron Locklear, had produced an 8-inch-long knife during a verbal argument that “became increasingly heated” and slashed the victim across the right side of the face. The resulting laceration ran from near his eye to his lip, officials said.
Alcohol was believed to have been a factor in the incident, authorities said.

Locklear was treated for a cut to his finger, and prosecutors charged him with aggravated domestic battery, aggravated battery with bodily harm and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, the sheriff’s office said.
He was expected in court Wednesday.
