
(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Illinois State Treasurer Michael Frerichs will keep his position for another four years.
Michael Frerichs was first elected Illinois State Treasurer in 2014 and re-elected on 2018. He has promoted the icash program, saving money for college and trade school and increasing financial education.
"Together, we have struck a decisive blow for democracy, good government, and the future of our children," he said in a tweet. "I look forward to working with you tomorrow and in the years to come to make our state a shining beacon of innovation, integrity, and prosperity."
His opponent was Tom Demmer, the State Representative for the 90th District in the Illinois House of Representatives. He has been critical of Illinois spending and pointed out issues in the Illinois House culture.
