(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Tech giants are going to war over artificial intelligence.
Microsoft is the latest tech giant to take the wraps off of its latest foray into the world of artificial intelligence, incorporating AI into the Bing search engine.
Google's entry into the world of AI is called Bard.
Wall Street Journal Tech Reporter Dan Gallagher said big tech has put big dollars into artificial intelligence, but an open source program changed the public's perception of AI.
"What changed thigs seemingly overnight, this ChatGPT surfaced essentially in the first of December and just caught fire," Gallagher said.
Gallagher told the WBBM Noon Business Hour that both Google and Microsoft expect to make billions of dollars on AI.
"You're talking about the potential to make a lot of money. They're spending a lot of money to enable this."
