(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Dating back to last spring, many strolling through the park reported spotting a stray cat, one that was incredibly friendly.

However, efforts to capture the feline were unsuccessful until just before Christmas, when the 2-year-old tabby moved from Millennium Park to PAWS Chicago.

That's where officials reached out to Melissa Miller, who would ask trappers to let her know if the cool kitty was ever captured and in need of a home.

Miller had met the cat, now named Buddy, while she was ice skating in the park a couple weeks ago.

“I had never seen a stray cat who was so open to meeting people,” she said in a press release.

Over the weekend, Buddy was adopted by Miller and brought to his new home in Michigan City.

Miller told the agency she felt it was meant to be and that Buddy seems to like exploring and eating in his new home.
