(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A famous Chicago purveyor of popcorn is teaming up with a local brewery to create a sweet and salty brew.

Revolution Brewing and Garrett Popcorn announced they are presenting a limited release "Caramel Popcorn Ale" that is infused with Garrett’s CaramelCrisp flavor.

The idea is to pair the special beer, which is likened to a brown ale, with Garrett popcorn.

The recipe development took several tries, the companies say, and includes using CaramelCrisp popcorn early in the process. Also used in the process: brown sugar, rye malt and kosher salt.

“Once fermented, carbonated, and packaged, it ends up as a smooth-drinking 7.0% ABV pour with notes of crème brûlée sweetness and a lightly salted finish,” according to a news release.

The beer will be available beginning Oct. 1.
