New image shows SUV after fatal hit-and-run on North Side: Chicago police

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Chicago police have released new evidence as they continue looking for the person responsible for a fatal hit-and-run that took place on the North Side early Sunday morning.

Officials said a man was crossing the intersection of Ashland Avenue and Diversey Parkway — in a crosswalk — when he was struck by an SUV at about 1:25 a.m.

The man was taken to a local hospital but later died from his injuries.

Police said the SUV was traveling southbound on Ashland Avenue, and the driver of the vehicle failed to report the crash to police and failed to help the man before driving away from the scene.

In a release shared Monday morning, Chicago police said they are looking for a four-door, 2009 – 2014 Nissan Murano with a moon roof that has front-end damage.

Officials have asked anyone with information about the incident to contact them.
