(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — The alderman of Lake View is asking Chicago police for help this summer after residents complained of disturbances late Sunday night and early Monday morning following Pride celebrations.
Ward 44 Ald. Tom Tunney said residents brought video to his office that they claim showed people spraying mace or pepper spray at others on Halsted between Buckingham and Roscoe.
The residents also claimed the video has sound of gunshots in the area.
Tunney on Tuesday said police haven't been able to confirm the details. He said it's clear there was some kind of trouble and he understands why some residents are worried.
The alderman said he's asked the city to increase police patrols in his ward on weekends through Labor Day, as well on the weekend of the Pride Parade, which will be on Oct. 3.
