Off-duty officer fatally shot in home by wife - another off-duty officer - during domestic incident: sources

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A domestic incident involving two off-duty Chicago police officers inside a home near O’Hare Airport on the Northwest Side left one dead Tuesday night.

The incident is being reported as an argument between two off-duty Chicago police officers - husband and wife - around 7:15 p.m. in the 8500 block of West Winona Street, that escalated when a gun came out.

According to CBS 2, there was a struggle and the husband, 44, suffered a single gunshot wound to the chest. He was pronounced dead at Lutheran General Hospital, according to a statement released by the Chicago Police Department.

His name has not been released.

Police had the street blocked off, and detectives were seen going in and out of the home. The shooting is being investigated by the Civilian Office of Police Accountability and the Chicago Police Department.

No charges were announced, but the officer involved will be placed on routine administrative duties for 30 days, police said. The department released no other details.
