(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Both U.S. senators from Illinois and nine members of Congress are among dozens of lawmakers who’ve signed on to a letter to protect Palestinians who are visiting the United States.

The letter calls on the Biden Administration to allow Palestinians who are in the United States on visas to remain here and not be forced to return to a dangerous situation.

The letter points out that even the State Department has extended a Level Four Travel Advisory for Gaza due to terrorism, civil unrest and armed conflict. There’s a Level Three Travel Advisory for the West Bank.

"We believe that Palestinians currently in the United States who cannot safely return home at this time should have the option of seeking temporary protection," the letter stated.

More than 100 members of the House and Senate have signed on to the letter including Senators Dick Durbin and Tammy Duckworth and Congress people Jan Schakowsky, Sean Casten, Danny Davis, Bill Foster, Jesus Garcia, Jonathan Jackson, Mike Quigley, Delia Ramirez, and Lauren Underwood.
