Things to do in Chicago this weekend

(WBBM NEWSRADIO) – Here is the latest roundup of weekend events happening around the Chicago region. WBBM Newsradio’s Rachel Pierson reports.

--Immerse yourself in music and check out up-and-coming artists. The coveted Pitchfork Music Festival returns to Chicago's Union Park this weekend. Headliners include The Smile, Big Thief, Kelela and Bon Iver.

--Taste the traditions of Mexico and Central America during the Tacos and Tamales Festival. Hosted in Pilsen, the three-day food fest offers some of the best (and most authentic) tacos and tamales Chicago has to offer.

--You’ll find more delicious eats during Taste of Lincoln Avenue. Now in its 39th year, the festival includes dozens of local restaurants serving up their most famous dishes, plus a live music lineup including performances by A Flock of Seagulls and Stray Cat’s Slim Jim Phantom.

--It’s a pet lover's paradise! Bring your furry friend to Petcon for an action-packed weekend in Chicago full of panels, activities, can't miss meet and greets as the world’s most famous pets come to the Windy City.

--Support local small businesses at the Chicago Summer Market for Makers. Located in the historic Artifacts Events in Ravenswood, discover more than 100 independent artists and makers specializing in everything from home decor to art, food and fashion.

--Batavia MainStreet brings back its beloved Cocktails in the Park Saturday evening. Sit along the Fox River in Appleton Park and enjoy a night of live music, delicious appetizers and of course, cocktails.

--And there’s fun for everyone during AlpineFest. Hosted by the Lake Zurich Lions Club, enjoy three days of carnival rides and entertainment in a slightly scaled-down event.
