(WBBM NEWSRADIO) – An accused rapist who fled electronic monitoring in Cook County has been arrested in Portland, Oregon, authorities said.
Rene Chandler, 34, was wanted for two aggravated criminal sexual assaults that occurred in 2018 as well as a 2019 robbery and for jumping home detention in 2020, Cook County police said Friday.
When he was arrested Wednesday in Portland, arresting officers recovered an illegal firearm, more than $19,000 in cash, several driver's licenses and numerous stolen credit cards and Social Security cards, authorities said.
Chandler is currently being held in the Multnomah County Jail, said the Cook County Sheriff’s Office, which credited the Fugitive Apprehension Unit for tracking him down.
Chandler also has three active warrants out of Colorado for charges including theft and bribery, officials said.
