CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Some City Council members were praising 10th Ward Alderwoman Susan Sadlowski-Garza as she nears the end of her time on the Council.

38th Ward Alderman Nick Sposato wanted to be sure to get in a Thank You. He praised Garza for being a great chair of the committee and a great friend as did 22nd Ward's Michael Rodriguez.

"You've been an amazing leader here on council and also in this committee," Rodriguez said. "This isn't our last workforce meeting I know you got you got more work to do, but I've got nothing but love for the work you do."

Garza insisted that all of the Workforce Committee members should be proud and that it was a team effort.

"Every one of us on this committee should pat ourselves on the back, because we've done some great work and it's been an honor and a privilege working with all of you."

She said they have passed more legislation to help working people than any other Council committee and she added that they have made the lives of hundreds of thousand of people better.

Under Garza, the council's Workforce Development committee moved the so-called Fair Workweek ordinance towards passage. It made employee work schedules more predictable and they championed protections for workers trying to unionize.

Garza was one of Mayor Lightfoot's most trusted allies, though they seemed at odds towards the end.
