(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A Joliet area family thought they might end up holding a baby shower in a parking lot, until a Romeoville tavern stepped up at the last minute.
Space was already reserved at a clubhouse for a baby shower this past Sunday.
But come Sunday afternoon, the clubhouse remained locked.
"About 1:30, the food we had catered in arrived, and we had nowhere to put it,” recalls Nick Tyrell, brother of the mother to be. "And so for the time being it stayed in the trunk of one of our cars, and a little bit of panic ensued."
He said he frantically called nearby McWethy's Tavern and asked if there was anything they could do.
McWethy's said they had two baby showers going on -- but come over, anyway.
"Obviously in this case, it was a massive blessing to our family, who were panicking and debating whether or not we'd be having a baby shower in a parking lot."
Tyrell says the McWethy's manager told him they didn't want anything in return.
He says his family is still hopeful they can get their deposit back from the clubhouse where they were locked out.
