We're getting a look at a new report card from CTA, Metra and Pace passengers ... and when it comes to satisfaction, the results show the agencies are not equal.
Since 2016, the RTA - which oversees CTA, Metra and Pace has surveyed riders at regular intervals about what they like, what they don't like, and what they want changed.
In that first survey nearly ten years ago, CTA rider satisfaction was around 85%.
Now, it's 70%.
During Thursday's RTA board meeting, agency deputy executive director Maulik Vaishnav spelled out what CTA riders are most concerned about: "Cleanliness, personal security, condition of assets and accuracy of real-time information." That's a fancy term for "ghost buses."
Satisfaction numbers at the other two agencies are much higher: 84% for Pace and 91% for Metra.
The transit agencies are reviewing this information as they try to find a way out of a looming fiscal cliff, and as they look to Springfield for help, Vaishnav says passengers are on board, based on a different survey of riders: "They did rank more funding for transit as number one."
The RTA now hopes those riders call their state lawmakers ahead of next month's veto session.
