(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A man from the northwest suburbs has notched another entry in the Guinness Book of World Records.

Salacnib “Sonny” Molina is an operating room nurse at Northwestern Medicine McHenry, but his hobby is breaking World Records.

Most recently, he set the record for most lanyards worn around his neck --509. This latest entry will go alongside other records he set for consecutive marathons while barefoot, longest distance to walk on Legos while barefoot, largest Pringles can collection, and largest collection of salt and pepper packets.

Molina said there is a community of serial record-breakers. Most of his records have been broken by someone else, with some notable exceptions, he said.

"The only thing that's not broken is the most ultramarathons and the most consecutive marathons. They stood up there for a little bit," he said.

He broke the lanyard record last week. He said his colleagues and patients are proud of his accomplishments.

"They're happy about it," Molina said.

His next project: Breaking the record for most pairs of underwear worn at once. The current record is 266, he said.

The attempts to break a record are fundraisers for the non-profit Soles4Souls, which donates shoes and clothing to people in need.
