(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Elk Grove Police officers fatally shot a man who confronted them while brandishing a knife on Friday, officials said.
Officers were called around 4:30 p.m. to a residence in the 200 block of Fern, where they encountered the individual with the knife, police said. During a confrontation, "the subject was shot," according to a news release.
The man was transported to a hospital and pronounced dead, police said. Three police officers taken to the hospital for observation.
An investigation continues. No further information was released.
