CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Family, friends, and fellow officers gathered Saturday to dedicate a street in honor of a fallen Chicago Police officer murdered last spring.

South Blackstone Avenue near East 82nd Street in Avalon Park, on Chicago's South Side, is now Officer Aréanah M. Preston Way.

It’s in the very neighborhood where her murder happened in May.
Preston's name was also etched into the Gold Star Memorial Wall on Wednesday, joining hundreds of fellow fallen officers.

Her family said there are plans for Preston's name to not be forgotten. They said they're accepting donations to open a community center in her honor.
