(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — An Illinois Department of Transportation minuteman truck was hit by a suspected drunk driver on the Dan Ryan Expressway during the overnight hours.
There were a lot of crashes on the Dan Ryan amid rainy weather and slick roads. Illinois State Police say one such crash was in the southbound lanes of I-94 near 26th Street
An Illinois Department of Transportation minuteman truck was conducting traffic control around 3 a.m. Sunday with emergency lights activated, following a different accident – a two vehicle crash – when the IDOT truck was hit from behind by another vehicle.
The driver of that vehicle was cited for driving under the influence, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and violating Scott's Law, which mandates that drivers slow down and use caution around emergency vehicles.
No injuries were reported.
