WILL COUNTY, Ill. (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The Will County Sheriff’s Office says a 14-year-old boy is charged with the murder of a Hammond man who was shot to death last Friday night.
The 14-year-old, according to the Sheriff’s Office, made arrangements to purchase a large amount of marijuana from Chaves Bradley.
Bradley drove from Hammond to a pre-arranged location in Crete Township and parked.
The Sheriff’s Office says he was targeted by the teen, who fired at least seven shots at the back of the car.
Bradley sped away, crashed into some parked cars, and got out and told someone he needed help and then collapsed and died.
The Sheriff’s Office said there was digital evidence about the drug deal and a search warrant was executed at a residence nearby.
The boy and his parents were taken into custody and investigators said they found a 40 caliber handgun and ammunition in the boy’s bedroom matching shell casings found at the shooting scene.
The gun was stolen from a home in Naperville. The 14-year-old is charged with first-degree murder and three gun-related crimes.
His parents were not charged.
