(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Because of the pandemic, there are only three new Illinois state laws that take effect Jan. 1.
It’s the shortest list of new Illinois laws that anyone can remember.
The spring legislative session lasted a mere four days because of the pandemic. The fall veto session was scratched.
The three new laws:
—Cap insulin costs at $100 per month for people on a state-regulated insurance program
—Allow police to obtain a DNA sample for a missing person
—Allow survivors of sexual assault or stalking to use a substitute address.
Meantime, the state’s minimum wage increases to $11 an hour.
