"O'Hare Moments," the new campaign from the Chicago Department of Aviation (CDA), invites travelers to share their special moments from O’Hare’s more than 70 decades of flight.
"When it came to thinking about how can we celebrate this milestone in O'Hare history and O'Hare's timeline, we thought what better way to do so than the people who are kind of the eyes and ears of our of our terminals, which are the passengers," said Georgiaree Godfrey, Director of Public Information for the CDA.
She said the campaign encourages travelers to celebrate their first flights, family reunions, farewells and milestones by submitting stories, photos and videos.
"The moment has to be special to you, and it has to deal with O'Hare," she said. "This is a great place for you to rummage through that old photo book, find that photo of your mom in front of the original O'Hare terminal."
Godfrey said the campaign coincides with the progress of ORDNext, the largest terminal expansion in O'Hare's history. This includes two state-of-the-art satellite concourses, an O’Hare Global Terminal and a connected underground tunnel.
As the CDA and O'Hare look to the future, Godfrey said the campaign will help improve the passenger experience. She encourages people to submit all types of memories, even if they aren't so pleasant.
"We need to capture those moments that tell the story of O'Hare past and present," she said. "Sometimes those bad moments help us be able to make changes to enhance the passenger experience. So yes, we want to hear the bad also."
Entries can be submitted online at moments.ORDNext.org. Those submitted by February 2 will be entered into a drawing for a $500 gift card.
"This campaign is really about sharing from O'Hare passengers, former employees and really understanding and learning why O'Hare is so special to millions of people every year," Godfrey said.
