CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - There’s been another data breach at a major Chicago health system.
More than 10,000 patients and employees of the University of Chicago Medical Center may have been exposed in a data breach.
The hospital said scammers accessed several workers' emails in January in a phishing incident. An investigation found two months ago the information exposed included numbers for social security, passports, drivers licenses as well as security questions and answers.
UChicago Medicine said it’s taken steps to prevent a similar occurrence from happening again.
Ascension Healthcare was hit with a ransomware attack earlier this month and Lurie Children’s Hospital was hit in January.
