(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Highland Park High School graduate Sam Brief is the voice of the Chicago Dogs minor league baseball team, the Windy City Bulls of the NBA Instructional League, and Chicago State Athletics.
Starting next month, he will be the voice of the Brisbane Bandits of the Australian Baseball League.
Brief said the job was the culmination of years of work and his lifelong fascination with Australia.
The list of details to address when making a cross-continental move is endless.
"Every time I think of the logistics, another thing pops up, and I write it down in the middle of the night," Brief said.
The first game is Nov. 10th against Auckland. He said he has a great deal of homework to do before that first game.
“Studying up on the league and the country,” Brief said. “I've already read a book about the history of Australia as a nation, and the history of Australian sports.”
Summer is fast approaching in the southern hemisphere. The Australian Baseball League season runs from November through January.
