(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — There have been arrests and charges in connection with an armed carjacking and police chase in the northern suburbs.
Waukegan police said a 33-year-old woman was carjacked on Sunday in the 3000 block of North Lewis Avenue. She was able to take her young son out of the Dodge Durango before the gunmen took off.
A short time later, the SUV was spotted in traffic, but the driver would not pull over for police.
There was a chase through a couple of suburbs before the Durango crashed in North Chicago. Suspects ran, but police soon arrested four of them.
Two of them have been charged as adults, and two juveniles were released.
Waukegan police said four handguns were recovered, including two that had automatic conversion kits installed, which made the guns capable of firing nonstop.
