(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — No more late fees in Aurora, at least not for overdue books.
The Aurora Public Library District has updated its membership policy to eliminate overdue fines and forgive existing fees.
Another change increases the number of physical items that can be checked out by a person to 100.
Finally, residents no longer need to renew their library cards as long as they remain a resident, business owner, teacher or student in Aurora.
The Board of Trustees approved the policy last month.
The APLD is the latest to join other west suburban libraries in the "fine-free" movement. Others include the Elmhurst Public Library and the Naperville Public Library.
