ROMEOVILLE, Ill. (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- To say 10- year-old Benyamin Bamburac of Romeoville is a fast learner is an understatement.

His parents said he learned to read at eight years old, he mastered math at the age of 4, and he was so far ahead of his fellow students in early childhood education that he was enrolled in a two year home schooling program.

Even then, his father Djordje said he continued to excel.

"We enrolled him and he just took off. It took him like two years to finish math from second grade to end of the high school", he said.

Djordje said his son believes there are many more kids just like him, who are in search of a challenging educational program.

"He says nobody's out there pushing those kids to advance like him."

Now Bemburac is enrolled as a full-time student at Joliet Junior College, where he's working on his Associates degree. His dad says he might attend a four- year university math program in the Chicago area.

When asked what he wants to be when he grows up, he replied:

"A mathematician? Other than that, I don't really know."
