WOODSTOCK, Ill. (WBBM Newsradio) – A Woodstock man is facing multiple felony charges after police say he intentionally drove a car into a townhome early Saturday morning following a domestic violence incident.

Matthew Zamorano, 31, is charged with aggravated domestic battery, criminal damage to property and interfering with the reporting of domestic violence, according to court records.

Authorities said officers responded around 2:36 a.m. Saturday to the 2300 block of Linden Drive, where a vehicle crashed into an end-unit townhome. Investigators allege Zamorano intentionally drove his Honda Civic into the residence with the intent to harm himself.

The crash caused significant damage to the home's kitchen and dining room area, according to the Woodstock Fire/Rescue District. Two adults and two children were inside the home at the time but were not injured.

Court records allege Zamorano was involved in a domestic violence incident earlier that night. Investigators said he pushed a woman, causing bruising, and struck her in the face multiple times. The woman suffered a laceration that required seven stitches and was treated at Northwestern Medicine Woodstock Hospital.

Authorities also allege Zamorano attempted to prevent the woman from calling 911 by taking her cellphone.

Zamorano was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries after the crash. In addition to the felony charges, he also faces misdemeanor counts of reckless conduct and reckless driving.
